Quick, easy and healthy snacks for all the family
Having a snack is one of the great joys of life. But it’s especially brilliant when you’re a kid (and when you’re feeding your inner child, of course). But, it can be pretty easy to overindulge when you’ve got a hankering to fill the hole between breakfast and lunch.
However, there are all kinds of healthy snacks for kids on the menu. You just need to use your noodle and put in a little heart.
Healthy cookies
It might not sound right, but if you use the right ingredients then cookies can be healthy (shock, horror!). Try using whole wheat flour, rolled oats or subbing butter for a brilliant low-cal snack for kids.
Homemade crisps
Possibly the holy grail of healthy snack hacks for children. You get to cut out the unhealthy bits and end up with a treat that feels just as indulgent. And the best part is you can get your kids to help too.
You can even try cutting the slices of potatoes into cool, different shapes if you’re feeling brave.
Cheesy treats
Cheese is super tasty and full of calcium and protein. Pair it with apple slices, carrots or whatever fruit and vegetables you love for deliciously filling snack.
Trail mix
It’s so easy to make and the perfect kids snack when you’re on-the-go. Throw in nuts, raisins, dried fruit and even pretzels, and you’re off.
Just get fruity
Now and again nothing beats a fresh, healthy piece of fruit. Call us old fashion, but sometimes Mother Nature knows best.
But, that doesn’t mean you can’t treat yourself or the kids to something sweeter – especially after lunch or dinner. And Wall’s ice creams, ice lollies and desserts are just the ticket.
At the end of the day, it’s all about balance. But, by substituting a few snacks here and there, you and your kids could be on the way to being all the healthier for it in no time.
